ART & COMMUNITY

Art & Community
We are excited to welcome artists both on and off the stage, to share their creativity with our festival community at Connect. This year we are collaborating with some of Scotland's most exciting visual artists and community projects, to bring their talent to the fore and the fields of Connect.
Yardworks - Graffiti
Yardworks is an international celebration of graffiti, street art and design which takes place in Glasgow’s iconic SWG3 arts venue. Yardworks showcases the skills of top graffiti & street artists from across Europe but integral to its success is the ongoing work with a large group of local artists, who uniquely and creatively bring this concrete playground to life.
Jenny Soep - Live Artist
Scottish artist Jenny Soep is Drawing the Experience, connecting art & music via live-drawing. A combination of drawing and live-performance, Jenny lets sound be her guide; music, rhythms, words, thoughts and emotions influence herself and the artwork live in-situ, creating souvenirs that give life to an experience long after the music has stopped.
Trackie MacLeod - VisualArtist
Trackie McLeod’s work bridges the gap between fine art and design. His practice pokes fun at British nostalgia and identity, using humour as social commentary to discuss themes of masculinity, class and politics. Laced with everyday colloquialisms, Trackie’s punchy take on sculpture and textiles mixed with his graphic design background creates a visual language best discussed over a pint of Tennent’s lager and a packet of crisps.
Support The Maker - Makers Market
Support The Makers is the product of owner Carmen’s love for handmade accessories, art, jewellery, homewares and much more. What started as a passionate push to shop small led Carmen to realise how much local talent there was in Scotland and the UK, and what an amazing community of local makers exist in Edinburgh. This remarkable platform gives makers the opportunity to be highlighted in advertising features, Makers Markets, creative workshops and pop-up shops.
